GLAT, with its eleven congresses, 250 papers, numerous publications, exchanges and discussions, with its shared knowledge and its experience has always been a crossroads for specialists in every domain to meet and spend some time together in scientific and human harmony. We hope to renew this experience at GLAT-BREST 2008, the XIIth congress and the XXth anniversary of the creation of the group.
GLAT has always dealt with a wide range of subjects in connection with language, lexicology and terminology. The applications of terminology have enormously progressed in recent years but there is still much work to be done on discourse and fundamental and methodological theory since concepts and contexts are still some distance apart. We have always considered terminology to be a crossroads for many disciplines: documentation, specialized translation, technical writing, lexicons and ontologies.
